Introduction
Veeam ONE 13 supports automatic in-place upgrade (on the same server) from version 12.0.0.2498 and newer versions. The upgrade preserves all data, product settings, and configuration.

Documentation
- Upgrading to Veeam ONE 13 - official upgrade description
- Veeam ONE 13.0.1 Release Notes - additional information about the upgrade, etc.
- Build Numbers and Versions of Veeam ONE - list of versions and builds
The upgrade process is quite similar to the installation of Veeam ONE 12.1, which we described in the article Veeam ONE - basic installation and commissioning.
Installation Files
We can download from the portal My Veeam - Products, where installation files according to our license are located. It is available as part of Veeam Data Platform, where we can download the Veeam ONE ISO VeeamONE_13.0.1.5924_20251117.iso with a size of 3.2 GB.
License
The license file remains the same, using VUL licenses (Veeam Universal License). During the upgrade, the current license is used (we can upload the existing file or log in with a Veeam account and the license will be automatically downloaded).
Preparation Before Upgrade
My deployment, which was upgraded using the described method, is All-in-One Deployment with remote Microsoft SQL Server Standard. Veeam ONE Client is installed on administrators' computers.
Requirements and Prerequisites
It is definitely good to check system requirements (System Requirements) and supported platforms (Supported Virtualization Platforms). For example, Windows Server 2012, SQL Server 2012 and 2014, VMware vSphere 6.x, and Windows Server Hyper-V 2012 are no longer supported. On the other hand, new versions are supported. A brief summary overview can also be found in Veeam ONE 13.0.1 Release Notes.
Veeam ONE Database
In version 13, there was a change in databases for data storage. Instead of one Veeam ONE Database on Microsoft SQL Server, two are used.
- Veeam ONE Monitoring Database - database on Microsoft SQL Server, locally or remotely
- Veeam ONE Reporting Database - database on PostgreSQL, locally or remotely
We can install the DB locally along with the installation (upgrade) of Veeam ONE. The installation includes PostgreSQL 17.6 version for Reporting Database.
For Monitoring Database, it still includes the (quite old) Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express Edition version, where there is a 10 GB database size limit. Microsoft SQL Server 2025, which was released on November 18, 2025 (and raises the size to 50 GB), is not yet supported. For production use, it is recommended to use Standard or higher edition on a separate server along with Reporting Services.
Veeam Analytics Service
Veeam ONE Agent has evolved into Veeam Analytics Service. This is a component that enables communication with the Veeam Backup & Replication server. Communication has changed, where Veeam Backup & Replication Server (Veeam Analytics Service) communicates with Veeam ONE for data collection (port 2805). In the case of VBR 13, the number of ports for communication from Veeam ONE to VBR was reduced (to port 443).
Product Upgrade Order
Veeam ONE is recommended to be upgraded first. The upgrade order with other products is:
- Veeam ONE
- Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager
- Veeam Backup & Replication
- remote components and agents
Preparatory Steps
Before the upgrade, it is recommended to perform a backup of the SQL database for Veeam ONE. A solution could be a VM snapshot if Veeam ONE runs in virtualization. So that we can easily return to the previous version in case of update problems.
Veeam ONE Upgrade
Server Upgrade
We start the upgrade using setup.exe from the mounted installation ISO directly on the Veeam ONE server. During the upgrade, we can leave many wizard parameters in the current settings (it offers values used on our server).
- select Upgrade - Upgrade Veeam ONE

- the Setup Wizard will start, where we configure upgrade parameters
- we accept the license terms
- information about components to upgrade and their versions is displayed

- next, a step for providing the license should be displayed, but it did not appear for me and the existing license was automatically used, there should be an option to load the license file or log in with a Veeam account and the Update license automatically option
- we verify that the correct service account for running the Veeam ONE service is specified and enter its password
- a system configuration check is performed, if some components are missing, they are automatically enabled

- a step for selecting Monitoring Database is not offered, the current SQL Server settings are automatically used
- we must select Reporting Database, i.e., a new PostgreSQL instance, we can use Install new instance, which will install the database locally

- in the port configuration step, only the new Veeam ONE Caching service is offered, default port
2743, others will be used according to our settings - the last step concerns upgrading the agent on VBR servers, where the transition to Veeam Analytics Service takes place, connection to the VBR server is checked

- upgrade information is displayed, which we start with the Upgrade button
- 6 steps are performed (PostgreSQL installation, client upgrade, server upgrade, web services upgrade, update application, finalization and service start), for me it took 9 minutes

First Client Launch and Server Connection
On first connection using Veeam ONE Client to Veeam ONE Server, I was offered an option to enable diagnostic data sharing for proactive support. The client still communicates with the server using TCP ports 139, 445, UDP 137.

The redesigned Veeam ONE Web Client runs on HTTPS default TCP port 1239, for example https://veeamone.firma.local:1239/.

Veeam ONE Client Upgrade
If we use remote clients (application on a workstation) for management, we must also update them. The upgrade is the same as installation. We run setup.exe from the mounted installation ISO. Select Upgrade Veeam ONE Client and complete the wizard.
