A few words about me
Study
I graduated from secondary school SPŠ strojnická, although I was already very interested in computers at that time. Subsequently, I started studying at the CTU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, but already after the first semester I found out that it was not an area I wanted to focus on. So the next year I started again at the ČVUT Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEL). After a number of happy years, when I had to overcome the difficulties of studying at this faculty, I successfully completed my studies in 2004 and obtained the title of engineer. In my bachelor's degree, I studied computer engineering, then with a focus on system programming.
Programming was an area I wanted to pursue even after completing my studies. But it turned out that I started working half as a programmer and half as a system administrator (which was the field I was earning extra while studying). And relatively quickly I started to devote myself exclusively to computer networks (an area I did not enjoy at all at FEL) and server management (AD domains).
In the last years of my studies and my first years of work, I devoted a lot of time to web programming (i.e. creating web presentations and applications, web design, webcoding, etc.). I tried to follow modern methods of proper design and create websites that are accessible, valid and optimized. At that time, this website (or let's say a simple editorial system) was created.
Practice and experience
Right after school, I started working at the Czech IT company OKsystem, where I am still. Currently in the position of IT Manager, i.e. the head of the department managing internal IT. This is quite extensive and at the enterprise level. Around 400 virtual servers and the corresponding infrastructure with physical servers, disk arrays, networks and other elements.
Besides the responsibilities arising from the leadership position, I mainly focus on the Microsoft platform (Exchange server, server, network and directory services - AD DS), active networks elements (switches, WiFi) and IP telephony of Cisco and physical servers Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). I am also interested in the proposal and design of local area networks and participated in the design of a larger data center.
For many years now, virtualization has been a matter of course, where I work with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V. The last few years also cloud services, where I deal with the extensive area of Microsoft 365. Over time, other areas are added such as NetApp disk arrays, security elements (Firewall, VPN) Fortinet, data protection solutions (backup) Veeam. Interesting area of user and device identities and their secure authentication (login).
Other interests and activities
As you probably noticed, I also like to write. I started articles for this website, then contributed to Connect! magazine in 2009 and 2010! In February 2011, I started working with Microsoft in the voluntary position of Microsoft Influencer. My involvement lasted until 2014 and mainly consisted of publishing articles on the TechNet Blog.
I am currently a member of a number of technical user groups. I attend professional conferences and seminars. I enjoy meeting colleagues from the industry. I still have to educate myself because IT is constantly evolving and new areas are added that I need to focus on.To mention some interests outside of IT, I like to listen to rock music, read books and travel. I have been fond of sports since I was young, I have been practicing karate since 1991, for 15 years I worked as a trainer in the SKKP8. The last few years it's mainly about fitness, kickboxing and running.
My original plan when I created this website was to publish articles about my hobbies (mainly karate and travel). But that changed right from the start, and here you will find mainly professional articles thematically related to my work.
Professional certifications
After the first years of practice, I decided to prove my knowledge and started taking exams for various professional certification. The company supports this area because certified specialists are needed for the company certifications we hold. Below is a list of certifications that I have obtained during my practice.
I have been too busy for many years, so new certifications are not coming in and I have not had time to renew many of the older ones. The list also includes invalid and outdated certifications.
