Introduction
Veeam ONE 12.2 supports automatic in-place upgrade (on the same server) from version 11a and newer versions, preserving all data, product settings, and configuration.
Documentation
- Upgrading to Veeam ONE 12.2 (build #12.2.0.4093) - official upgrade description
- Veeam ONE 12.2 Release Notes - additional upgrade information, etc.
- Build Numbers and Versions of Veeam ONE - list of versions and builds
The upgrade process is quite similar to the installation described in the article Veeam ONE - basic installation and commissioning.
Installation Files
We can download from the portal My Veeam - Products, where the installation files are available according to our license. The download package Veeam Data Platform or just the ISO Veeam ONE VeeamONE_12.2.0.4093.iso
of 2.5 GB is available.
License
License file remains the same. During the upgrade, we can upload the existing file or log in with the Veeam account and the license will be downloaded automatically.
Preparation before Upgrade
Requirements and Prerequisites
It is certainly good to check the system requirements (System Requirements) and supported platforms (Supported Virtualization Platforms), but they probably haven't changed from Veeam ONE 12.1. A brief summary is also available in the Veeam ONE 12.2 Release Notes.
Product Upgrade Order
Veeam ONE is recommended to be upgraded first. The upgrade order with other products is:
- Veeam ONE
- Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager
- Veeam Backup & Replication
- remote components and agents
Preparation Steps
Before the upgrade, it is recommended to perform a backup of the SQL database of Veeam ONE. A solution could be a VM snapshot if Veeam ONE runs in virtualization. This way, we can easily revert to the previous version in case of update issues.
Upgrade Veeam ONE
Server Upgrade
Start the upgrade using setup.exe
from the connected installation ISO directly on the Veeam ONE server. During the upgrade, we can leave many parameters of the wizard in the current settings (it offers values used on our server).
- select Upgrade - Upgrade Veeam ONE
- the Setup Wizard starts, where we set the upgrade parameters
- agree to the license terms
- information about the component version upgrade is displayed
- in the license settings, we can load the license file or log in with the Veeam account, we can choose Update license automatically
- verify that the service account is entered correctly
- a system configuration check is performed, if some components are missing, they are automatically enabled
- in the database settings, check the SQL server and installation details
- information about the upgrade is displayed, which we start by clicking Upgrade, it goes through 4 steps (client upgrade, server upgrade, web services, finalization), in my case it took 6 minutes
Upgrade Veeam ONE Client
If we use remote clients (application on the station) for management, we also need to update them. The upgrade is the same as the installation. Run setup.exe
from the connected installation ISO. Select Upgrade Veeam ONE Client and complete the wizard.
Hi Petr,Is your VeeamOne DB local to your VeeamOne server, or do you have external SQL server hosting the VeeamOne DB?Only ask as we are having an issue with the upgrade using an external SQL server. We are using custom ports for security and I believe (pending testing) this is cause of failure.
respond to [1]Superfly: We have an external SQL Server with default ports. We had no problem.
