This article describes installing a patch for the current version. A larger upgrade between versions is described in detail in Veeam Backup & Replication - upgrade to version 13 - part 1. Installing a patch is simpler, but the basic steps are the same and are described in more detail in the upgrade.
Veeam Backup & Replication 13.0.1 P1 (13.0.1.1071)
At the beginning of the year (January 6, 2026), the first Patch for Veeam Backup & Replication 13.0.1 was released, which fixes several critical vulnerabilities. Updating Veeam Software Appliance (VSA) is done directly within the appliance (Updating Veeam Appliances). Here we focus on updating VBR deployed on Windows.
For the update we can use the installation ISO, which is the file VeeamBackup&Replication_13.0.1.1071_20251217.iso with a size of 18.7 GB.
The second option is to use a standalone patch, which we can download, along with getting information about this version, in Release Information for Veeam Backup & Replication 13 and Updates.
Install Patch 13.0.1.1071
For VBR update from version 13.0.1.180, running on Windows, we can use a smaller patch than the entire installation ISO. We have two options for how the patch is available:
- smaller EXE
VeeamBackup&Replication_13.0.1.1071_20251217_patch.exewith a size of 1.89 GB, which unpacks files to disk during installation (requires more disk space and takes longer) - larger ISO
VeeamBackup&Replication_13.0.1.1071_20251217_patch.isowith a size of 4.18 GB, where installation proceeds directly from the mounted image
We will briefly describe installing the patch using an ISO file. The update is a simpler process than an upgrade, but we should still perform preparatory steps we mentioned for the upgrade. During the installation, services will be stopped, files copied, installation occurs, cleanup happens, and services restart.
Unblocking the ISO File
The documentation states that after downloading the ISO we must open the file properties and unblock it (Unblock). Otherwise, running setup.exe may end with an error. And indeed, this problem occurred for me now.
Could not load file or assembly 'file:///E:\Setup\ServiceOperation.dll' or one its dependencies. Operation is not supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515)

Patch Installation
The installation wizard, which is launched using setup.exe, is simpler than during an upgrade. The update took about 7 minutes.

- Configuration Check is performed

- information about the update is displayed, we can check Update remote components automatically

- we click the Install button, which starts the update process

Post-Installation Operations
Updating Components on Servers
Just like after an upgrade, we launch Veeam Backup & Replication Console and perform an update of (remote) components. The first time, one update ended with a warning and one with an error. The wizard couldn't be completed and the only option was to go back (Previous). After clicking Next again, the installation was started again, but it only ran on these two servers and this time successfully.
Warning server: All components have been upgraded with warnings. Failed server: Failed to upgrade host components. Error: 'Installation completed with errors. See Installer logs'

Agent Upgrade
We perform an agent upgrade. There is a new version of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 13.0.1.1009 and Veeam Agent for Linux 13.0.1.203. There is no new version of Veeam Plug-in for Oracle RMAN.
VBR Console Upgrade
If we use remote consoles for management, an update of VBR Console is performed, which took 6 minutes.
